How to cast your vote
for Allbase-free ODBC

Every request for HP's lab resources gets considered according to the amount of customer demand. HP uses this customer input as its primary means of deciding what to enhance in the HP 3000 product line. The direct access ODBC proposal -- which would eliminate the need to use the Allbase/SQL engine for access to things such as Microsoft Office -- is listed first on the current SIGIMAGE 1997 Enhancement ballot. It is one of 48 potential enhancements that IMAGE users can vote up to $100 toward. Voting your dollars for direct access ODBC can help convince HP that it's an important enhancement.

Time is short to get your ballot counted for the current year. The SIGIMAGE committee wants to start counting ballots after January 20. It's important to get your ballot in by the deadline, since the SIGIMAGE Executive Committee typically meets with HP shortly after balloting ends to discuss directions for the database. To receive a ballot, contact the NewsWire by e-mail at rseybold@zilker.net, and we'll e-mail it to you. Return your ballots to SIGIMAGE Balloting, PO Box 3439, Sunnyvale, CA 94088-3439, or fax them to 408.747.0947. You can also return the ballot by e-mail to sigimage@interex.org.

HP's CSY R&D manager said the HP 3000 division will rely more heavily than ever on the input it receives from groups such as SIGIMAGE. The current SIGIMAGE Enhancement ballot is the way to get your ODBC needs onto HP's wish list.
