HP 3000 Web servers get new checking tool free from Allegro

HP 3000 development shop Allegro Consultants offered a new utility program to help maintain Web sites hosted directly on HP 3000s, making the program available for free downloading from the Allegro Web site (www.allegro.com/software). CheckWWW is a utility that helps to check for possible problems with an HP 3000 web server. CHECKTREE recursively walks down a set of HTML pages, looking for bad links. SCANLOG scans a Web server’s access log file, looking for possible problems with files that did not get fully transferred and files that are not bytestream files.

The free utility is designed to work with the Apache/iX Web server now being bundled with the MPE/iX 6.5 operating system, but will also operate with earlier versions of MPE/iX and the Open Market Web Server still in use on some HP 3000s. The software defaults to Apache file locations first, Open Market log locations second. Multiple commands are allowed per line, separated by a semicolon.
