CSY arranges 100Base-TX
cut in license fees for MPE/iX

HP has arranged price cuts on a hidden part of the new 100-megabit bandwidth solution for HP 3000: licensing fees for the software required. Previously, a $1,795 B5427AA 100Base-TX LAN card for a 3000 came with an MPE/iX license fee that could run as high as $8,000 for unlimited users, or even $2,500 for a 100-user license.

CSY has extended discounts that appear to be permanent on the licenses, so that $8,000 fee is now $2,500 and the 100-user license costs $1,750. The prices, while still not as low as a customer would pay for equivalent HP-UX software, have come down from 35 to 70 percent.
