TechGroup grandfathers MPE certifications, launches 2001 schedule

TechGroup University has announced that all HP 3000 professionals who have earned MPE certification from the HP/Sylvan program can have their credentials transferred to the TechGroup MPE skills track.
“If you are one of the people that took the single MPE Certification test from Hewlett-Packard you can be grandfathered into the new certification program at the Certified System Manager (MPE-CSM) level,” said TechGroup’s Jon Backus. “This will automatically give you the Certified Professional (MPE-CP) as well. Your ‘test date’ will be the day your paperwork is processed.” MPE professionals should fax a copy of their HP certificate and contact information to TechGroup at 301.714.1854. Certificates faxed before January 1, 2001 will be grandfathered at no cost. On January 1 a $10 processing fee will be required. For further details and updates, check www.mpecert.org.

TechGroup has also unveiled its 2001 Winter Semester catalog, available as a PDF download file from the University Web site. The online catalog contains over 70 MPE-related classes taught at the University’s Hagerstown, Md. classroom facility. Courses include training on languages ranging from COBOL to Java, setting up an Apache Web server, application-specific courses on Smith-Gardner and Carter-Pertain software, Web publishing, high availability techniques, and advanced performance tuning for the system.
