Computech signs support deal to handle HP accounts

Computech Systems Corp., a provider of remanufactured HP 3000 hardware and services, has signed a subcontracting services and support agreement with HP to support HP 3000 customers.

“This agreement is the next logical extension of Computech’s 15-year relationship with HP,” said Frank Zaccari, Computech president and CEO. Under the US agreement, Computech is authorized to distribute updates and releases of HP-UX and MPE/iX software, and to dispatch Hewlett-Packard engineers with parts. Customers will access the service through a Computech dedicated help desk available on a 24x7 basis.

Jim Cook, HP Support Sales Manager in Bellevue, Wash., saw the potential for new HP service revenue to be generated through Computech’s Support Services program. “We required Computech to meet the same standards of any other HP reseller in the marketplace,” Cook said. “They have a quality organization. We are ready to move ahead and help grow the subcontracted support services business with them.”

Michael Tobias, Computech Director of Support Services, said the services range from performing regular system maintenance to a four-hour response for a mission-sensitive system outage. “With this service, our customers will have a consistent, single point of contact and a measurably shorter response time to emergency calls,” he said.

Computech said that key elements that helped launch the partnership were its internal organization and business integrity built over the past 15 years. After taking the job of CEO at the start of 2000, Zaccari created a Professional Services Division. Zaccari has restructured Computech’s sales management to focus on key clients and vertical markets and expanded the sales force by 100 percent. He’s also authorized construction and remodeling throughout the Computech facility to improve product workflow and double inventory space.
