Replication solution
to give MANMAN sites
simple, low-cost reports

Envy Systems, a software and services firm that grew out of supporting MANMAN sites in the VMS marketplace, is introducing a software solution that replicates MANMAN data for reports for less than $2,000. Ready2Go.NET works with the Microsoft Internet Information Server Web package and Windows 2000 and NT systems to create a set of reports that can be accessed through Web pages. The software creates Web content using XML, including reports that have been tailored to HP 3000 MANMAN installations.

“We have technology that relationalizes MANMAN’s non-relational database,” said product manager Tim Peer. “We’ve converted over 100 databases to SQL over the last few years.” The MANMAN database on the 3000 remains intact, and is replicated onto the Windows server attached to the 3000. Peer said the solution doesn’t need an experienced Webmaster to develop new report pages.

“It doesn’t require a programmer, and you don’t have to be a developer to implement new pages,” Peer said. “All you need is a valid SQL statement.” Ready2Go will link all data from multiple 3000s into a Web page, as well as data from other data repositories such as Oracle or SQL Server.

Peer said he sees the company’s replication solution as an affordable alternative to higher-end software from existing HP 3000 sites. But he noted that the company has established its MANMAN database experience in the OpenVMS market since 1989. “We’re not going to sell you a Cadillac, we’re going to sell you a Chevy. Our solution will get the job done, and it won’t break the bank.” Ready2Go.NET sells for a range of under $1,000 to $2,000, depending on modules deployed. A demonstration application is available for system managers to run at www.envysys.com.
