Acucorp reports COBOL suite supports Integrity

COBOL development tool provider Acucorp has announce that it has ported its Extend product suite to HP’s Itanium 2-based systems, the HP Integrity server family. The Extend suite lets software vendors and corporate end-users maintain and modernize COBOL business systems. Acucorp said it is the first COBOL vendor to make the port to the Integrity line, which HP is proposing as a platform for HP 3000 sites moving off of MPE.

“When they run their programs, customers can now do so any HP Integrity server running HP-UX 11i v2, Linux and now with Windows Server 2003,” said company co-founder Drake Coker. “they can, in most cases, increase their systems’ performance significantly by running application on the 64-bit Itanium 2, as compared to the 32-bit version.”

The Extend line lets developers plug technologies such as XML, .NET, J2EE and Java into COBOL applications. The suite includes solutions for COBOL-based Web deployment, GUI design, data access, distributed computing and thin client architecture.
