Good news – the MPE Forum doesn’t cost more

Next month’s Interex Programmer’s Forum doesn’t cost $100 more than the 1997 version of the three-day MPE technical exchange with HP lab engineers. Conference chair Ken Sletten let us know there wouldn’t be any price increase since last year’s meeting, which you should be attending if you want to influence HP’s list of improvements for the 3000. That price increase to $495 that we mentioned in our last Flash Paper took place between 1996 and 1997 – but if you want to assess the value of time you can spend with CSY leaders at the Forum, it’s really priceless. One unique part of this year’s affair, to be held in the Radisson Inn at Sunnyvale, Calif., is a management roundtable with all of HP’s top 3000 people ready to answer your questions about what’s happening next to the platform and related products. That roundtable is an opportunity you’re unlikely to get at any other time this year with HP 3000 executives, since it appears the HP World Management Roundtable may not be held this summer. The Forum roundtable is typical of CSY’s communication skills, even if some answers don’t always sit well. Besides the roundtable, the Forum has meetings devoted to HP 3000 application development environments, a tutorial on new and emerging technologies for the system, and presentations from the new Growth, Data Center Management and Interoperability and Internet Solution Teams at CSY. We think it’s some of the best time you can spend offsite learning about your HP 3000’s future direction. There’s an important deadline coming up soon if you’re still considering going to the MPE Forum: February 27. After that Friday, the cost of the conference goes up $100. (We’re pretty sure about that increase.) Get a full schedule at the Interex Web site, where you can register, or call the user group at 408.747.0227.
