Minisoft’s Javelin brings 3000 terminals
to some Mac browsers

The Java-based terminal emulator for HP 3000 applications gets a wider world to operate in when Minisoft releases a version that puts HP 3000 terminals inside of Macintosh browsers. For the time being only Mac users running Microsoft’s Internet Explorer can have 3000 terminal screens displayed in their Web browsers, and even those customers must have the leading-edge 4.5 version of IE installed. Minisoft tech engineers said that Netscape Navigator’s 4.5 version won’t allow users to set up a Trusted Zone on their Mac browsers, something essential to Minisoft’s way of maintaining connections to HP systems. Javelin has been working for over a year at HP 3000 sites using PC Web browsers.
