3000s are getting Y2K ready, but 5.5’s latest PowerPatch is the means, not 6.0

Customers started to receive the PowerPatch 7 version of MPE/iX 5.5 in the week of June 21, after a delay of less than a month from HP’s original ship plans. The PowerPatch, which includes HP patches released since the last PowerPatch 6 release of MPE/iX 5.5, is the primary path a lot of HP 3000 shops are taking toward the millennium rollover. Customers say their tests are being completed for 5.5, and lots of them say they won’t be installing amy MPE/iX 6.0 release until after the New Year. This probably takes the pressure off the delivery date for 6.0’s Express 1 release, which HP still had not shipped as of presstime in the second week of July.
