Interex will let HP World remain a summer show next year

3000 managers who were looking toward the next HP World show in 2001 will need to look later into the year, as Interex rescheduled its yearly all-things-HP conference back into its usual summer time slot. The 2001 edition will be in the mid-August time frame, not mid-May as first scheduled. The change gets the show out of competition with HP World Japan, a conference not presented by Interex, as well as the Interop networking conference already set in the month of May.

Conference manager Kathy Herzog the reasons for moving to May — the user group’s concerns about limited availability of HP top managers for its show, and HP product announcements not scheduled for the late summertime slot — are disappearing with the changing of the guard in CEO Carly Fiorina’s organization. Herzog said the 2001 show’s Chicago dates — it’s still set for McCormack Place there — would be finalized before this year’s HP World convenes on Sept. 9.
