3000 Java support improved with a better online FAQ

Sprucing up the documentation on the e3000 Java implementation was high on customers’ wish list this spring, but HP couldn’t commit to a thorough improvement for the language. This summer a better Frequently Asked Questions Web site will have to do, courtesy of HP’s Java expert Mike Yawn. New questions and answers were culled from the SIGJava mailing list archive. and out-of-date info was replaced. The resource at jazz.external.hp.com/cgi-bin/faqw.py covers Servlets, J2EE, and application servers like Enhydra. Ironically, the site “is a Python program running on [HP’s] Jazz server that allows anyone to add questions and answers,” Yawn said. He added that “performance of the FAQ Wizard software is pretty slow; perhaps I'll replace it with something Java-based one of these days,” a nod to the growing performance profile of Java on the HP 3000.
