Robelle changed its name as part of its new strategic direction

With more than two decades of HP 3000 experience under its belt, Robelle Consulting Ltd. broke ground on a new image and mission for the company, renaming itself Robelle Solutions Technology Inc. on April 28. The supplier of omnipresent tools Suprtool and Qedit — the company’s solutions have been installed on more than 14,000 HP servers — has been broadening its horizons for years, adding HP-UX and Windows versions of its software. But the name change reflects an even older shift the company made when it got exclusively into the software business. “We haven’t really seriously done consulting since 1982,” said president David Greer in announcing the name change. “We thought we were probably a little overdue on this.”

The company continues to do “a tremendous amount of business in our traditional lines of business,” Greer said, such as the Qedit for Windows release just out with a new scripting language (see the NewsWire Briefs section for more details.) The company is now more focused on total solutions for companies, rather than individual pieces of software as it has offered in the past, he explained: thus the origin of the Solutions part of the new name. “As we move forward and maybe go with new partners outside our traditional marketplace, they need to know we’re in the technology sector,” Greer said. “The Consulting was getting in the way. We’re ready for a fresh start and a new look.”

Robelle’s new mission is to provide its customers with support as they transfer to and manage their major business processes on the Internet. The company is also helping customers integrate their core e3000 systems with other platforms such as Windows, and is expanding its focus on large mission critical operations, such as the Amisys healthcare application. In the current HP e3000 e-Tools Coupon book, Robelle’s offering isn’t product-related — it’s one day of free professional services.
