A new system management tool surfaced for e3000 managers

A utility sharp enough to let a manager control a 3000’s performance from thousands of miles away is getting an introduction to the community, as Outer Banks Solutions (800.558.5336) rolls out System Monitoring Software (SMS). It provides automatic, real-time monitoring for the HP e3000 and monitors critical resources, events and limits that require the most attention and can have the greatest impact on a system. When events occur that require attention, SMS automatically alerts a manager. In addition to monitoring, SMS maintains historical information for all monitored events and alerts. A manager can allocate resources, control system access and record information necessary to manage and audit a 3000 with SMS.

OuterBanks uses the software itself to do outsourced system management for some of its services clients running HP 3000s, and are now making the tool available to the general marketplace. It includes the ability to automatically ALLOW specific console commands and to restrict system access during critical production processing. An SMS Network Monitor verifies connectivity from the e3000 and configured systems, network printers, routers, and servers. If connectivity can’t be verified, alerts are automatically issued.
