Client Systems made changes to its distribution team

A well-known manager at the North American e3000 distributor has stepped away from the company, as Sean McCloskey left his duties directing the strategy of the Phoenix 3000 remarketed systems business at Client Systems. McCloskey was well known by HP 3000 resellers in North America. The business development manager had moved into a strategic role in the Phoenix operation, set up to give HP’s authorized resellers a viable alternative to systems sold by brokers. His most recent assignment for Client Systems involved its 3kworld.com portal. “Sean had a very strong relationship with the brokers, and he’d been identified as the single point of contact for the resellers. We’re sorry to see Sean leave,” said Client Systems general manager and president Mike Murphy. “Sean was instrumental in getting the Phoenix operation set up, and what we’re doing now is building a strong inside infrastructure to support all the Phoenix business. That’s why I was able to move him to the 3kworld piece. He was taking a more strategic direction in the Phoenix business, and wasn’t involved in the day to day transaction activities.”

Murphy is taking over the strategic direction for Phoenix 3000 — during a period when the remarketed system outlet will be collecting and then reselling used 9x9 and 9x8 systems traded in as part of N-Class and A-Class purchases. HP hopes to be able to keep the 9x9 systems inside the authorized resale channel as much as possible during this period, to help attract business from the 9x7 owners who aren’t yet ready to jump to the A-Class or N-Class systems. “We have a tremendous channel organization in Phoenix, one of its original intents,” Murphy said. McCloskey had also been assigned to enhance and increase the viability of 3kworld; those duties will be assumed by Client Systems’ marketing director Sheri Drucker.
