Interex signed a Memorandum of Understanding
with Encompass for HP World 2004

User group chairman Denys Beauchmein confirmed that the HP user group has joined with Encompass, the user group serving Compaq customers, to create content and deliver this year’s HP World show in August. HP will continue to deliver the ETS training at the show, but the vendor will take a more restrained role in decisions about the largest conference of the year for HP systems. “Visibly, HP was in charge last year,” the chairman said. “We’re going back to the model we had before.” That will mean that the user group takes fiscal responsibility for the production of this year’s conference, and shares some of the profits with Encompass. The show’s Web site now notes that the event “is not produced by Hewlett-Packard” and that the name “HP World is under license from Hewlett-Packard.” The show’s floor plan on May 11 showed HP having purchased the largest booth, while Platinum migration partners MB Foster, Speedware and Lund Performance took spaces in a special area near the front of the expo hall. ORBiT Software, PIR Group, Acucorp, Genisys and WRQ were also confirmed 3000-related exhibitors

“Interex is delighted to be able to continue our 30-year tradition of delivering industry-leading technical training to our members, and to the entire HP-centric IT market, at HP World,” said Beauchmein. “Our partnership with Encompass will truly make this year’s event the only one you need for all your HP enterprise needs.” Kristi Browder, President of Encompass, said the user group is “extremely pleased to lend our user-driven, user-focused expertise to ensure the conference program meets the demanding needs of today’s HP enterprise customer.”

Program details were scheduled to be revealed during May at the conference Web site, www.hpworld.org. The show runs August 17–19, and will host more than 165 HP partners and vendors in Chicago at the McCormick Place exhibit hall.
