HP 3000 volunteers continued to brace up the Interex board

HP 3000 users make up a small fraction of the Interex user group membership, but the computer’s friends always seem to occupy a larger portion of the board of directors. The group’s elections in October didn’t place another 3000 advocate on the board — Julie Smith of Wachovia Corp. won the election in the only contested race over Chuck Ciesinski, former SIG-Print chair. But the 3000’s spirit will be represented on the new board by Jerry Fochtman. The former chair of SIG-IMAGE and current HP 3000 R&D director at Bradmark Technologies, Fochtman was appointed to the board for a three-year term — the first to outlast HP’s 3000 market presence.

Denys Beauchemin, a prolific source of system advice on the 3000-L mailing list and a veteran of several MPE vendors, served as Interex chairman during 2004 and will now remain on the board in the Past Chairman spot. With Speedware’s marketing VP Chris Koppe continuing his board service, the user group now counts three HP 3000 community leaders among its seven members.

Interex also named Bob Vomaske to replace Bob O’Brien, the Microsoft employee who resigned from the board Sept. 30. Vomaske, the president of Vista Solutions Corp. in Fort Collins, Colo., will serve the remaining two years of O’Brien’s term.
