St. Paul partners
with Sears for EDI services

The SPS Commerce service bureau of HP 3000 EDI supplier St. Paul Software formed a partnership with Sears, Roebuck & Co. for EDI testing, certification and education for Sears hardware store vendors, enabling them to become EDI-compliant.

SPS Commerce services in the partnership encompass testing, certification and education, as well as EDI translation services for non-EDI-capable vendors. SPS is providing WEB EC, fax to EDI, EDI to fax, application to EDI, EDI to application and manual processing.

A tracking program for Sears Vendor Management allows Sears to monitor the progress of their vendors’ compliance during any stage of the enablement process. Pete Rector, director of vendor management for Sears, said his firm chose St. Paul Software “to help our off-mall Hardware vendors meet EDI compliance requirements, because [St. Paul has] branched beyond traditional EDI enablement programs and [is] innovative in their approach with vendors.”

The SPS program will enable all Sears hardware vendors to be EDI-compliant with the required transactions, including purchase orders, purchase order changes, invoices, advance ship notices and UCC-128 carton labels.

The partnership with Sears “exemplifies our commitment to helping businesses broaden their use of electronic commerce and benefit from easier and less expensive methods than they have used in the past,” said St. Paul Software president and CEO Steve Waldron. “Our solution accomplishes all of these goals, because it allows large companies, like Sears, Roebuck & Co., to enable 100 percent of their vendor base and shorten their supply chain. Expanding the use of electronic commerce through SPS Commerce’s services is an essential component of St. Paul Software’s future growth strategy.”
