New class library makes MPE more Java-ready

Another piece of the HP 3000 Shared Source program made its appearance in September, when an MPE Class Library for Java was uploaded to the Interex Shared Source Web server. HP’s 3000 Java guru Mike Yawn said the library “provides access to MPE intrinsics from the Java language, without the need to write C or C++ ‘stubs’ as was required with the Java Native Interface (JNI). I hope some of you will give it a try, and perhaps participate in the ongoing development of this library. I believe this removes most of the obstacles in supporting the majority of MPE Intrinsics.” The library is a work in progress, and not yet an officially supported part of the operating system. HP works to resolve any problems that are reported by users.
