FastTrack is on track for HP World demos

Despite the fact that the project is “much more complex than we estimated” according to CSY’s R&D manager Winston Prather, Netscape’s FastTrack Web server will be ready for demonstration at HP World in early August. HP gave an update on the porting project’s progress at IPROF, saying that it plans to have code ready for customers to use off the CSY Jazz Web site shortly after HP World. It’s not clear whether FastTrack, the first commercially supported Web server from Netscape that can run on a 3000, will make the 6.0 release of MPE/iX. But HP’s update indicated that the porting will produce a usable application within 1998, only about six months later than promised at last year’s HP World.
