Migrate or comply? 3000 sites can’t choose just one

Customers at this month’s HP World conference were making a late effort to organize a meeting of Amisys users at the show. Jeff Kubler of Kubler Consulting (www.kublerconsulting.com) reported that he hoped for a presence from Amisys-Synertech at the Thursday 1:30 PM meeting. As with any other gathering of packaged 3000 application users, the SIG will show options available for migration and reveal “what others are in the process of doing related to migration to HP-UX.”

Transoft has helped Amisys port its Amisys/3000 application to UX-based Amisys Advance, and now Core Migration has done work to get the healthcare payor app off of PowerHouse code in the upcoming Version 2 of Advance. The SIG was going to discuss the challenge of meeting HIPAA regs at HP World. “How can you meet HIPAA guidelines and requirements while working on migrating to another platform?” Kubler said. He posed a very good question for a much bigger group of 3000 sites: Those who have to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations over the next 12 months, all while they try to get serious about migration
