Paul Edwards & Associates is delivering disaster recovery expertise

TAMP Computer Systems Inc., a provider of software solutions and consulting for business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) planning, has added Paul Edwards’ HP 3000 expertise to its DRS Affiliate program. Edwards, who chairs the MPE Forum and is an OpenMPE board member, provides business and technical processing solutions to HP computer system users, with a focus on HP 3000 systems. As part of the Affiliate Program, both Paul Edwards & Associates (www.peassoc.com, 972.242.6660) and TAMP (www.drsbytamp.com, 516.623.2038) can provide additional solutions for their clients.

“It was a natural fit to align our company with a strategic partner who is a leader in the business continuity planning industry,” Edwards said. Now his firm can offer DR planning tools from TAMP, solutions that come in three versions: Web-based on TAMP servers, which store DR information offsite; an Intranet version that runs on a customer’s equipment and can be accessed by companies over their own networks; and a client-server version that runs on a single PC and is priced under $1,000

Edwards will sell one of these versions of the TAMP product and consult with the customer to configure the DR solution for each entity: Details on recovery team members and specifics on configurations. A template is included (MS Word documents) to create a customized DR manual. The manual can be used as a checklist for periodic testing of the company’s DR plan. “Most HP 3000 sites don’t have a plan at all, particularly the small and medium-sized sites,” Edwards said. He’s studied a DR planning tool that was written for the PC for Offsite, and was going to rewrite the program with a GUI-based interface. “That’s all already in the TAMP system. My job will be to lead people through it, train them and consult onsite on disaster recovery.”

TAMP has been delivering DRS through authorized affiliates such as Edwards for over 10 years. “Paul Edwards allows us to offer our clients technical HP solutions in addition to the industry’s progressive planning solutions that use our Disaster Recovery System,” said TAMP president Tom Abruzzo.
