Latest Suprtool advances variable substitution, handles largest files

Robelle Consulting (www.robelle.com, 888.ROBELLE) will ship the 4.3 release of Suprtool beginning in May, a version which adds support for larger files and enhanced variable substitution capabilities. The all-purpose data manipulation tool for HP e3000s has had its file size limits increased from 4Gb to 128Gb, an increase especially useful to sites running the HBOC Amisys Payor Solutions application. The utility also runs on HP-UX systems, and its 4.3 version there will now support files that can contain up to 2.1 billion records.

Robelle also has added variable substitution in the new release, which allows the use of CI variables directly inside Suprtool and STExport. Robelle said the new release eliminates the need to define temporary use files to handle tasks. The release also allows administrators and programmers to truncate numbers instead of rounding, as well as computing the absolute value of a number.

Suprtool 4.3 will also support the PowerHouse PHDate and Julian Day Number have date types. With Julian Day support and the $DAY command, Suprtool can now compute the number of days between any two dates. Suprtool works with a variety of data sources including IMAGE, Allbase and Oracle databases, MPE and HP-UX flat files, KSAM files, and IMAGE/SQL B-trees and jumbo datasets.

Robelle customers on current support will automatically receive the upgraded version of the software at no extra charge. The software costs $4,000, which includes the first year of maintenance. Additional licenses are $2,000 each, and maintenance is $800 per year.
