User groups and HP are hosting 3000 seminars next month

HP’s 12-city migration planning tour coincides with one HP user group’s meeting for November, while the tour follows the meeting in Houston later in the month. At the Northeast Ohio Regional Users Group, HP’s show all about migration options makes up the entire HP 3000 track of the first Training Symposium hosted in conjunction with a Compaq user group. “As far as we know this is the first event in the country that has utilized the full resources of both a classic HP user group and classic Compaq/Digital user group,” said NEORUG president Gene Calai, who’s on the staff of MPE medical billing application provider Quadax. You can register for the event — a Nov. 7 meeting including lunch for $20, or free to NEORUG or Compaq WRUG members — at www.Quadax.com/NEORUG.

Meanwhile, in Houston the Greater Houston RUG is hosting a one-day meeting on the same day for $45, including an exhibits area. HP’s event to encourage migration to HP platforms hits Houston on Nov. 14, but the GHRUG meeting shows a broader scope of options, including discussion of OpenMPE to start the day and a briefing from Sector 7 about moving applications from the HP 3000 to IBM’s iSeries. Get more details and sign on for the Houston RUG meeting’s agenda — the meeting also includes HP-UX training — by visiting the GHRUG Web site at www.ghrug.org/conference.htm.
